Funding Request

For Potential Grantees…

We are pleased that you have sought our support for your elephants. Asian Elephant Support (AES) is a legally registered non-profit organization based in the United States. The tax rules for AES are quite important to its relationship with potential grantees because these rules dictate how the board selects projects and how it must account for the money granted to grantees in support of elephants.

Our U.S. non-profit status means that AES can fund the activities of foreign projects only in such a way that its exempt status is not jeopardized and that its donor deductibility is fully preserved. Generally, in order for AES to meet its tax obligation of control and discretion over foreign grants and projects, you must meet certain criteria and provide certain information. The following list outlines the items for you to include in your proposal, although AES may require further information upon review of your proposal. AES wishes you well on writing your proposal and wishes you the best for your elephants.

Please submit your proposal in email to info@asianelephantsupport.org.

Proposal Checklist:

  • Describe your organization and state the non-profit status for your organization.
  • Include a name for your proposed project and describe how it would help your elephants.
  • State in the proposal the total cost of the project under consideration.
  • Describe fully how AES funds would be used to help your project and the amount of funds requested from AES for the project if it is different from the total cost stated above.
  • Provide the name of the project leader and the name of the person in your organization who will be directly responsible for the project and who will report to AES, if that person is other than the project leader.
  • Provide the project leader’s physical address, email address, telephone number, and facsimile number (if they have one).
  • Provide the same information for any outside contractors to be used and provide the method you used to select them. An outside contractor is anyone or any organization not employed by your organization.

  • Provide a timeline for the project.
  • Propose a milestone distribution of the AES funds for this project.
  • Propose a reporting method to communicate to AES about the progress of the project.
